| dc.description.abstract | Backgroud: Indonesia have implemented warios antismoking measure since the prevelance of smoking were reported highest in Indonesia (46.16%) among ASEAN. However, little is known for their effect. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of smoking and the influence of antismoking measures on smoking behaviors among working age males in Indonesia.
Subject and Method: this cross sectional study was conducted in 2016. The total of 311 working age males was randomly selected from 10 sub-districts in Samrinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia to response to a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statict was used to describe the smoking behavior where as simple and multiple logistict regression were permormed to identify th influencer of antismoking measure on smoking practices of working age males when control other covariate.
Results: The pravelence of smokes was 45.6% (95% CI: 40.09 to 51.23). The multivariate analysis identified the when control other covariate, never read antismoking messages on the billboard (Adj. Or= 2.24, 95% CI: 1.10 to 4.68; p= 0.032), lack of knowledge that smoking could cause mouth and throat cancer (Adj. OR: 2.43, (95% CI: 1.09 to 4.50; p= 0,006).
Conclusion: Almost half of Indonesia working age males were somker. Antismoking measures had influence on smoking reduction. | id_ID |
