Background : Diabetes mellitus is a generative disease. Therefore, general purpose of medication in diabetes mellitus is by handling glucose content and improving patients life quality, one of the ways how to do it is by dieting.
Purpose : The purpose of this research is to know the a relationship between diet compliance and life quality of diabetes type II on patients with diabetes mellitus in puskesmas juanda samarinda.
Method : Research design used in this research was descriptive correlational with Cross Sectional approach. The population used in this research are all patient with type II diabetes mellitus that were treated in Puskesmas Juanda Samarinda, samplin method used in this research is Nonprobability Sampling with purposive sampling obtained 70 respondent. Data analysis used in this research is Chi Square test with 0.05 level of significance.
Result : Result of this research shows that there is a significant relationship between diet compliance and life quality of diabetes type II on the patients with diabetes mellitus in puskesmas juanda samarinda with p value is 0.017.
Conclusion : Dietary compliace has role in the formation of diabetes mellitus patient behavior in diet. Dietary adherence run by patients with diabetes mellitus is one way to improve the quality of life of patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
