Background: Family instrumental support is a full support or assistance from the family in the form of providing energy, funds, and taking time to help serve and listen to family members in conveying their messages. Family instrumental support is an economic function and health care function that is applied by the family to sick family members. Objective: To find out the relationship between family instrumental support and family acceptance of ODGJ at Atma Husada Mahakam Samarinda Hospital. Method: This type of research is choreal descriptive using a cross sectional approach. Sampling was done by purposive random sampling, with a total sample of 71 respondents. The data collection technique uses a research questionnaire. Data processing and analysis using univariate analysis with frequency distribution and bivariate analysis with Chi Square statistical test with a significance level of α 0.05 and 95% CI. Results: Of the 71 respondents most of whom had good family instrumental support as many as 39 people (54.9%) and less as many as 32 people (45.1%). Family Acceptance The majority of good family acceptance is 38 people (53.5%) and less as many as 33 people (46.5%). P value is 0.001 (<0.05) which means there is a relationship between family instrumental support and family acceptance. Conclusion: there is a relationship between family instrumental support and family acceptance. Recommendation: It is expected that families can better accept family members with mental disorders by participating in every family activity
